The Series 1000 Stacking Chair stands out as the flagship design of the Bentwood Collection. Originally designed in 1980, it's been in continuous production ever since. Tough and durable yet light and easily stacked, the Series 1000 works equally well for every day dining or for occasional seating.

These fine wood chairs come standard with black leather seat covers and when stacked together form an architecturally pleasing spiral sculpture.

We use North American hardwoods - cherry, maple, oak and ash - and employ the technique of bent lamination to make these pieces. In this process many thin strips of solid wood are press glued together in a shaped form. After the glue cures the parts are machined into their final shapes.

This technique allows slender, complex curves with incredible strength to be made in beautiful, natural wood. Assembled into a piece of furniture the parts speak strength and grace.
